A 1990 graduate of McGavock High School, Drew was a proud member of the three-time state champion McGavock High School Band. Drew will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, and his love of the outdoors. Scientific expeditions have taken Drew from the frozen waters of the Bering and Beauford Seas, to the tropical waters of Easter Island. As a researcher, he participated in expeditions to both the East Pacific Rise and Mid-Atlantic Ridge to collect samples and study deep-sea life at volcanic rifts of the ocean. He has hiked in the woods of Siberia, and studied the murky waters of Lake Superior. He has participated in discovering new species of bacteria. During his personal expeditions, Drew has traveled between the four corners of the United States plus Alaska. He especially enjoyed visiting as many National Parks, Civil War Battlefields, and road-side BBQ joints as possible, all the while making friends and sharing his unique sense of humor.
