Since the day she was born Julie brought people around her together. She had a passion for family, parties, and vacation adventures. She was known by all around her as the one who would organize and plan any function. An avid animal lover, she worked for nearly 30 years at the Fort Wayne Pet Hospital. Julie played both the piccolo and flute while at Northrop High School and often enjoyed reminiscing about her high school marching band days. Since 1979 she was active in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts at St. Vincent's mentoring many youths over the years. Through scouts she became very involved in the community, doing such activities as an annual Christmas Eve dinner for Byron Health Center. She also helped to establish the St. Vincent Haunted Castle, one of the largest fundraisers for the youth group. In 2006, she received the Family Exemplar Award from the University of Notre Dame for all her years of service and community involvement. The greatest times in her life were spent going on cruises with her daughter attending Colt's games, family parties, and planning her many vacation adventures.
She is survived by husband Randy Young; daughters, Maree and Ann (Mike) Young: grandson, Jack Young; mother, Marilu Brunson; bother, James (Sue) Brunson; and sister, Joy (Alan) Oldfield.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Jim Brunson; and brother, Jeff Brunson.
