Lieutenant - 25th Infantry Battalion AIF

Awarded the Military Cross (MC) for conspicuous gallantry, when on 20 Sep 1917 at Westhoek Ridge (Belgium) he came across four concrete dugouts. With torch in one hand and revolver in the other he single handed captured seventeen prisoners. He then continued to lead his platoon with great coolness and courage until severely wounded in both legs
