Ken was born October 22, 1938 to Phillip and Germaine (Seitz) Meyer in St. Marys, KS. He graduated from St. Marys High School.
Following high school, he served in the Unites States Army National Guard from October 31, 1955 to May 8, 1962.
On October 29, 1960, Ken married Mary Brockish. The couple lived in various places in Kansas including Baxter Springs and Gardner.
Ken worked most of his life as a construction manger for telephone companies until his retirement in 2001. He was also an owner/operator for his trucking company, which transported bombs during the Vietnam era.
Around 1977 the couple moved to Wisner, NE and resided in North Bend in 1983.
Ken was known as an awesome cook. He loved using his smoker to smoke his favorite meats and catered food for weddings, graduations, and family gatherings every now and then. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, loved working on old cars and trucks, and was a loyal Husker fan.
Ken was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Daniel Meyer; and sister-in-law, Mary C. Meyer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Jackie (Russell) Schultz; sons, Alan Meyer and Ron (Debbie) Meyer; brothers, Dick Meyer and Karl (Becky) Meyer; sister, Margie (Jim) Reuter; granddaughters, Molly, Natalie, Nicole, Jessica, and Amanda; and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Bend. Father Keith Rezac will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the church, with a rosary starting at 10 a.m.. Burial with military honors will be at Woodland Cemetery in North Bend.
