Donald Riley Goodwin Jr., 68 of Chidester passed away at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden.

Born July 1, 1952 in El Dorado, he was the son of Dr. Donald R. Goodwin, Sr. and Ruth Williams Goodwin who preceded him in death.

Don was a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a degree in Animal Science and also a graduate of Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas. Don’s passion in life was doing missionary work in several countries. He was an ordained minister of Christ for the Nations and never tired of witnessing to everyone he met.

He had a deep love for his family and taught his children and grandchildren , among many other life lessons, how to have good work ethics, to hunt and fish, and especially how to cook and grill.

Don’s focus in life was to help his family and friends find a real relationship with Jesus Christ. He not only talked about the love of God, he lived his life with the purpose of pleasing his Savior.

We will all miss you dearly until we join you one day.

Don is survived in life by his wife, Sandra Goodwin and children; Donald Riley Goodwin, III (Marissa), Pamela Lacy Parker (Addison), Jacob Lee Goodwin (Rebecca), Scott Hale, Raymond Hale (Lorelaine), Rhonda Moss (Gary), Patrick Hale (Debbie), along with three sisters, Suzanne Manis (Bob), Kerry Jackson (Charlie), and Becky Bays (Danny) plus a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Primitive Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Fryer and Rev. William Willis officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

In keeping with CDC regulations there will be no visitation and mask and social distancing are required for the service.
