Paul Otto Stone, a Korean War Veteran, died Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Donahoe Manor, where he resided since May 9.

He was born Sept. 6, 1931, to Otto Orlando and Lola Edna (Griffith) Stone in Clover Creek, Williamsburg.

Paul was the last of a family of nine siblings. His brothers and sisters were Franklin of McKeesport; Herman of Lancaster, S.C.; Myron of Breezewood; Alma Rae Fluke of Bedford (29504370); Jennie Snyder of Bakers Summit (15315030); Ralph of Roaring Spring (132510844); Dora Belle Ferguson of Carlsbad, Calif.; and Lola Edna Schmidt of Deptford, N.J. (163268164)

He has many nieces and nephews, including Fred Fluke and wife Arlene (Robinette) of Bedford; and Lola Belle (Fluke) Scott and husband Rev. Charles Scott of Apex, N.C.

Paul attended elementary schools in Bakers Summit, Martinsburg and Osterburg. He graduated from Bedford High School in the class of 1952 and was drafted into the Army, serving with the Army Corps of Engineers in Korea. He returned to the farm in Dutch Corner, where he resided with his sister Alma’s family. In her last years, Paul was Alma’s caregiver.

Paul worked at Kay Wood and Hedstrom. He was a Ford, NASCAR, Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. He enjoyed listening to country and polka music. He was a self-taught and accomplished mandolin player.

A private graveside service will be held at St. James Cemetery, Bedford.
