Son of Lucian Landon Thomas and Ethelene Dora (Drake) Thomas

"Charles L. Thomas, 1514 Genesee St., October 15, Faxton Hospital. He was a native of Texas and attended schools there including Southern Methodist University. He was a Marine veteran of World War I, serving on the USS Nevada. He was married to Edith Yeardon in Texas in 1920. Mr. Thomas came to Utica as a young man to act as a buyer for the F. W. Sessions Milinery Co. which later was known as Harvey Gurley and Thomas Millinery Co. During World War II, Mr. Thomas was associated with Savage Arms and thereafter with various oil companies with Utica. Mr. Thomas was a member of Central United Methodist Church, The Methodaires and Munson Williams Proctor Institute. Surviving are his wife, Edith, 4 sons, H. Landon of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Charles E. of Scotia, N.Y.; Robert D. of Silver Springs, Md.; and Harvey R. of Huntington Beach, Calif; 9 grandchildren and 1 brother, Hubert D. of Utica. A memorial service will be held Sunday Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Glenn Mingledorff officiating. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements by the Elwood T. Day Funeral Home, Inc., State St. at Oneida Square."
