John M. Ellrod, 76, of Myrtle Point, died, Sunday, December 9, 2001 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was born March 31, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Earl and Margaret Vogel Ellrod. John was a retired repairman for Bell Telephone of PA after 34 years of service. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corps, he was a flight engineer on a B-24 Liberator and was a member of The Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force. Mr. Ellrod's memberships include the Monongahela Masonic Lodge #269, F & A.M., Bethel Park, PA, Seaside Masonic Lodge #419, Myrtle Beach,SC, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, and Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, PA. He was also a member of the Men's Newcomers Club in Myrtle Beach. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lottie Jane Elliott Ellrod; two sons, Jeffrey Ellrod of Satellite Beach, FL, David Ellrod of Aliso Viejo, CA; a daughter, Cynthia Loughran of Vienna, VA and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Trinity Episcopal Church, Myrtle Beach. Burial will be private. MCMILLAN-SMALL FUNERAL HOME, Myrtle Beach, SC is in charge of arrangements.
