John Allen Drew

John Allen Drew, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at Enterprise Medical Center. He had experienced recent cancer surgery and succumbed to cardiac dysfunction. He was 73 years old.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 4 pm in Sunset Memorial Park on Friday, August 7, 2020.

John "Butch" Drew was born on May 18, 1947, in Houston County and lived the early years of his life in Clayhatchee. He was a 1966 graduate of Wicksburg High School. He joined the US Air Force and was a military veteran, an experienced machinist, and had served as a maintenance worker at both First Baptist Church of Dothan and at Wesley Place. Butch was a strong believer and a dedicated Christian. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially playing dominos on Sunday afternoons.

John was born the son of the late Emma Davidson Drew of Clayhatchee. He was the husband of Phyllis J. Drew of Dothan. His local relatives include Deloris Davidson Salter of Clayhatchee, Jennia Mims Beecher of Ozark, and Jo-Ellen Mims Willis of Ozark. He was the nephew of Elouise Mims Allen of Tampa, Florida. John's other relatives include several cousins living in Florida and in Georgia.
