Gene Mitchel Jones was born July 10, 1942 in Knoxville, TN. to Kelly Dee Fletcher and Zella Mae Aikens Jones. He was raised in Calvert, Texas later graduating from Sam Houston High School in 1962. Gene served his in the U.S. Navy. He married Martha Jane Barnett June 10, 1965 and they celebrated 55 years of marriage and two children. Mr. Jones began his career in truck driving for Merchants, later working as a railroad mechanic retiring from KCS Railroad. He was a longtime member of the Logan Full Gospel Church, loved the outdoors, tinkering, mowing, and working in the community he loved. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Deloise Robertson, Roberta Beck; brothers, Wayne, Gary, and Charles Jones.
