Thomas was born in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany in 1706 to Johannes Wolfgang Koppenhhoeffer (1679-1763) and Anna Maria Haffner (1683-1752). He married Anna Maria Magdalena Zinn (1705-1746) before Jun 1728 in Wuerttemburg, Germany. He left to America before the birth of their first child, Heinrich. He was the first of the family surname of Koppenheffer/Koppenhaffer/Copenhaver, etc. to arrive on the shores of America. He arrived at age 22 on 11 Sep 1728 on the ship "James Goodwill" to the Port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents and siblings came over later in 1732. He settled in the township of Heidelberg, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. He and his family were of the Lutheran Faith and attended church there. Later this county was divided and parts were made into Lebanon County. He was a patriot and fought in the French & Indian War. Thomas and Anna Maria had seven children that lived to adulthood. They were: 1) Heinrich (1729-1809), 2) Michael (1733-1823), 3) Simon (1735-1802), 4) Johann Thomas, Jr. (1739-1802), 5) Anna Regina Sophia Margaretta (1740-1808), 6) Eva Maria (1741-1775) and Catharina (1745-??). Sadly, Anna Maria Magdalena Zinn Koppenheffer died in 1746 leaving Thomas with all the children to raise alone. Thomas married as his 2nd wife, Anna Elizabeth Holtzmann (1715-1748) in 1747 in Heidelberg, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. Sadly, she too died on 2 Jun 1748 without issue. Thomas then married as his 3rd wife, Catherine Elizabeth Lehmann (Widow Lein/Lehn) (1710-1794) on 25 Jan 1749 in Heidelberg, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. Thomas died on 31 Dec 1760 in Heidelberg Township. His burial in uncertain.
