Kim Myong Lawrence was born in Korea on May 10, 1946. She grew up in Korea and unfortunately lost her parents during the Korean War. She and her siblings survived and fended for themselves. She met her loving husband, Ben, while he was stationed in Korea serving in the United States Air Force. They were united in marriage at the U.S. Embassy in Korea on November 29, 1989.
After Ben’s retirement from the service, they made their home at Leslie, MO, and enjoyed many years there together. Kim was employed by Gerald Industries and worked in landscaping for many years. She also loved to crochet, sew, and really enjoyed a game of Yahtzee. She loved her American family as her own. Kim loved to cook and her family always anticipated her “famous fried rice”. Though language sometimes became an obstacle, she could always convey her love to everyone. Kim was also a member of the Korean Baptist Church in St. Louis. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Kim is survived by her husband, Ben of Leslie, MO; parents-in-law, Brenda and David Setzler and Robert and Sue Lawrence; four brothers-in-law: Greg and Mary Ann, Todd and wife, Janie, Brian and wife, Lisa, and Mike and wife, Stacey; two sisters-in-law, Robin and husband, Gerry, and Staci and Gabe, all of Sullivan, MO; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and most of her immediate family.
Cremation services have taken place. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Leslie, MO, with Pastor Chester Lahmann officiating.
