George Allen Thomas Sr of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at age 80 in Jacksonville FL. Son of Wesley and Mary Belflower Thomas, he was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 16, 1939.
He served his nation honorably enlisting in the US Army serving tours in Alaska, Germany, and Vietnam. He Later transitioned to the Department of Defense from which he retired. His career took him and his family to locations throughout
Europe, where he shared adventures with his wife Esther while vacationing to many overseas destinations throughout their wonderful life together. He enjoyed traveling.
He enjoyed genealogy, traveling the country to research family history and visit historical landmarks. He was a family man that touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 59 years, Esther Dixon Thomas; his sister Alice Welhausen; 2 sons: George Alan Thomas Jr. ( Carolyn), and Mark Anthony Thomas ( Shannon); 5 grandchildren: Angel Robinson (Matthew), Nicole Thomas, Rick Thomas, Kelli Gutierrrez, and Taylorr Gutierrez (Sydney); and 5 great-grandchildren: Josalynn, Lacie, Braxxton, Marlie, and Jamess. He was preceded in Death by his parents, his sister Norah Miller and his grandson Anthony Thomas.
