He was a 1958 graduate of Bishop DuBourg High School and went on to attend Quincy College in Illinois. Thom was a life -long student, a passionate scientist who worked on his own. His curious mind took him in many directions over his lifetime. He took an early interest in cancer clusters of people, animals, and plants, conducting numerous research studies in Florida which he attempted to share with the FL Department of Health. He was also committed to developing treatment protocols for cancer and other related diseases that focused on strengthening the immune system through titrated exercise routines, and a healthy lifestyle. His efforts were recognized recently when research on Exercise Oncology began in earnest at a cancer clinic in New York.
Thom also committed himself to magnetic energy and the study of Maxwellian physics. He spent many hours over the years in his basement “lab” creating models of magnetic energy at work, which he believed was the energy of the future. Every spring he would take these models to an enormous energy fair in St. Louis where children and adults alike were fascinated with his hands- on creations. Thom developed a love of photography and was the official family photographer at family gatherings and events. He was also a lover of dogs and he and his wife took in many rescue dogs over the years. Most of all, Thom treasured the memories created with his family.
Thom is survived by his wife of 56 years: Betty Day; children: Michael Day (Marla), Steven Day (Carol) and Patrick Day (Sharman); siblings: Suzanne Day-James (Norman), Alvyn Day Jr., Jack Day, Kathy Day, and Bill Day (Caroline); grandchildren: Jordan Day, Parker Day and Chad Day; and great-grandson: Thomas Day. All will miss this loving and gentle giant of a man, taking solace in so many good memories and reassured that he is now safely Home. Farewell Thom, you graduate this life with honors.
