Michael “Mike” Lavane Gibbs, 62, of Chula passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at his residence. A private family funeral service were held on Sunday, August 2, 2020, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Gibbs was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Born November 18, 1957 in Tift County, Mr. Gibbs was the son of the late James P. “Jim” Gibbs and Helen Ruth Crumley Gibbs, who passed away on July 3, 2020. He was an electrical engineer at the Coastal Plains Experiment Station in Tifton and he was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.

Mr. Gibbs is survived by one brother and sister-in-law Lendon David and Elaine Gibbs of Royston; two nieces, Vickie Gibbs of Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Diane Gibbs Smith of Montgomery, Alabama; one uncle, Henry Robert Crumley Jr. of Omega; one aunt, Jemique Harrell of Moultrie; and two cousins, Nancy Slocumb and Londa Faircloth.
