Jackie Walter Clark, age 83, of Hazlehurst passed away on August 3, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Clark was born December 16, 1936 in Albany, Georgia: he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Wilma Cleveland Clark Commander and Philip James Clark. He graduated from Georgia Teachers’ College (now Georgia Southern University) and earned a Master’s Degree from Mercer University. He taught mathematics for 32 years with the majority of his career at Jeff Davis High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst.

“Papa” will be remembered for his happy smile when he saw his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, his gratitude for all that “Mama” did for him, his enjoyment of golf, baseball, and football, his skill at woodworking up until the last few years, and his sharp wit and intellect.

Survivors include his wife Harriet Woodard Clark, son Clay Clark (Lana), son Reid Clark (Marjorie), and daughter Cecelia McLoon (Kelly); grandchildren Jeremy Clark (Stephanie), Skyler Clark (Lexie), Mary Evelyn Clark, Paul Clark, William Clark, Annie Rose Clark, Alexis Leggett (Ryan), and Logan McLoon; great grandchildren Ella Clark, Lincoln Clark, Brooklyn Leggett, and Caroline Leggett. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 5 at 10:00 A.M. at Palms Memorial Gardens with Rev. Reid Clark and Rev. Brad Waters.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund, Regency Southern Care Hospice Kindred At Home Foundation, or Samaritan’s Purse.
