Barb was born September 26, 1934 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the daughter of Aca and Marcella (Wolf) Malloy. Barb was the oldest daughter of 12 children. She was married for 58 years to her soul mate, Delbert Hastings, and had two children, Jeffery (and Susan) Hastings of Brecksville, Ohio, and Julie (and Mike) Sankot of Walford, Iowa. In addition to helping to raise her own siblings and children, Barb helped raise many children in the Norway community through her in-home daycare. She later was employed as the librarian with the Norway Public Library where she continued to touch the lives of families. Until she retired to Amana, Barb was active with the Norway United Methodist Church. Following an automobile accident in 1994 that left Delbert blind, Barb not only became Delbert’s eyes, but was his rock until his passing on January 21, 2015. Barb is remembered for her love of her family and friends, her sense of humor, and strength and courage in the face of adversity. Barb was a devoted grandma to her two “favorite” grandchildren, Emily, and Scott. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her two sisters, Phyllis Algood of Wisconsin, and Marcia Michelson of Florida. She is also survived by two brothers, Jerry Malloy of Florida, and Dale (Sally) Malloy of Oskaloosa and many nieces and nephews. Barb is preceded in death by her parents, her four sisters Jean DeJong, Joan Hodson, JoAnn Malloy, and Kathy Sinclair, and three brothers Donald, Jack, and Kenneth Malloy. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233, or United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland, 10011 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.
