Edna Mae Scott-Watts, better known as "Boss Lady" of Rockford departed her earthly life Sunday, April 12, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Edna was born November 26, 1950 to the late Brazz Scott Sr. and Naomi (Ailes) Scott.

She attended school in Stephens AR, graduating in 1969 from Carver High School. While in Arkansas she attended Zion Hill AME church in Camden, serving as a Sunday school teacher and a class leader. Edna married Authur Watts on September 8, 1974. Soon after Edna became a widow and relocated to Rockford IL. Edna had a special relationship with Mr. Jim Knight for 24 years. They were a dynamic team. He preceded her in death. In 1975 she worked at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Admiral, and OIC for a short time before becoming self employed.

Edna was known for her matter of fact boss attitude. "I am the boss" she would say. She was a self employed business woman. She gave advice to many and loved her family dearly. Edna was a dedicated faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She served as the midday bible coordinator and treasurer. Edna also served her community by preparing meals to feed her neighborhood on holidays. She also served in the Community Prayer Warrior Group as treasurer and a loyal prayer warrior.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted sister, Mary D. Coleman, 3 brothers, Michael Scott of Camden, Arkansas, Namon Scott of Rockford, Illinois, and Hilton Scott of Jackson, Michigan; 3 sisters-in-law, Betty Scott, Emma Mae Scott, and Sharon Scott; a host of nieces and nephews; special nieces that were like daughters to her, Jatton Higgins, Val Foreman, Yvette Williams of Houston, Texas; great niece Athena Higgins, and special nephews; Robert Coleman Sr. and Jerry Coleman; as well as special friends Annie Yancy, Rev. Tomial Gary and classmate Unice Flowers of Stephens, Arkansas.

Predeceased by Parents, 3 sisters Rochelle Yarbrough, Corine Young, Shirley Scott, 3 brothers Brazz Scott Jr, Milton Scott, and John Scott.

A special thanks to Serenity Hospice and Dr. Khattuck and Mrs. Abrianna Dixon for their loving care of Edna.

A limited walk through visitation is scheduled for Saturday April 18, at 1pm ending promptly at 2pm. The location is at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park IL 61115. Please be aware that only 10 individuals will be allowed in the building at once during this time and be prepared to wait, and limit individual condolences so that others may have the same chance.
