Richard Dickerson, age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2020. He was currently residing in Crossville, Tennessee with his wife, where they planned to spend their retirement years.

Richard was born and raised in Lyons where he worked at several jobs, including Piggly Wiggly as a meat cutter and on the family farm. He left Lyons in 1959 to join the U.S. Air Force where he served our country for six years as a missile and aircraft specialist. Also, he was in the Naval Reserves for a period of nine years.

After the military, he joined the Lompoc, California Fire Department and spent several years serving the Community until he was injured while on duty. Prior to his retirement move to Tennessee, He was owner/operator of Dickerson Pecan Farm in Lyons.

Richard loved to fish and would make time a few times a year to head out to the waters to enjoy quiet time. He also developed a passion for flying RC aircraft and joined the Academy of Model Aircraft and a local flying club in Crossville. He was preceded in death by his parents, M.C. and Rose Dickerson of Lyons; and a sister, Kay Dickerson Pruitt of Lyons.

Mr. Dickerson is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Mary Jane Dickerson of Crossville; one son, Todd and wife Holly of Rockwood, Tennessee; one daughter, Traci of American Fork, Utah; one brother, Michael Dickerson and wife Wanda of Lyons; grandchildren, Drew of Knoxville, Tennessee, Brody, Karter and Paityn of Utah, Korin of Harriman, Tennessee, Jake of Wartsburg, Tennessee, and Baley of Cookeville, Tennessee; He was also blessed to have five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, August 6th, at 11:00 a.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Andrew Nelms officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society, P.O. Box 210, Vidalia, GA 30475.
