Mary L. (Sowers) Looser, 62, died Friday evening, July 31, 2020, the result of a bicycle/automobile accident on Convoy Road near Middle Point, Ohio. She was born in Van Wert, Ohio on February 23, 1958, the daughter of the late Richard L. and Barbara L. (Wilkie) Sowers.

On August 23, 1980, she married David H. Riley. They later divorced. On October 10, 1987, she married John S. Looser, who survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Amanda Lee (Riley) (Josh) Rigdon of Delphos and Megan Elizabeth Looser at home; two siblings, Jim (Cathy) Sowers and Laura (Jerry) Koenig all of Van Wert; four grandchildren, Trenton and Addison Ricker, and Ryan and Delaney Rigdon; nieces and nephews, Jackie (Bill) Evans and Steve Sowers all of Van Wert, Britney (Cory) Richmond of Columbus, Alena, Carsyn, and Jevan Looser all of Middle Point; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Kerry (Mandy) Looser and Lisa (Andy) Colgan all of Middle Point; and four great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Ann Looser; aunts and uncles William and Charlotte Wilkie and Dan and Marjorie (Wilkie) Morris; and cousin John Morris.

Mary was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Van Wert County United Way. She was a 1976 graduate of Van Wert High School. Mary had been previously employed at the Van Wert County Hospital and Kennedy Manufacturing; and was a current longtime employee of Eaton Corp. She was an avid bicycle rider and gardener. Having played sports all of her life, Mary enjoyed softball, volleyball, and held the girls' shot-put record at Van Wert High School from 1976 to 2008. She loved spending time in the kitchen and with her family, especially going for ice cream on Thursdays with her grandchildren. She loved her four dogs and especially her granddog.

Funeral Services will be at 11am on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Brickner Funeral Home with Pastor Will Haggis officiating. Burial will follow at the Saint Marys Cemetery in Ottoville. Friends and relatives may call at Brickner Funeral Home on Thursday, August 6, 2020, from 2-7pm. Preferred memorials are to the Education Fund of the Mary Looser grandchildren in care of the Superior Credit Union.
