Janet Denise Carter, 56, died Friday morning (July 31, 2020) at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. Having received training at Warm Springs, GA, Janet graduated from Ware County High School, and she received a business degree from Waycross College. She was employed briefly as a secretary for the Georgia Lions Club Camp for the Blind in Ware County, and she enjoyed speaking to various civic groups. Janet was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Hoboken.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew “Slim” Carter and Colleen Thornton Carter.
Survivors include four siblings, Darlene Griffin of Waycross, Gary Carter of Plainfield, IL, Glenn Carter (Elva Jean) of Nahunta and Debra Masten (Ken) of Toccoa, GA; 9 nieces and nephews; and 14 great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday (August 2, 2020) at Greenlawn Cemetery.
