Major William Scott Sellers, 70 of Buckhead, died unexpectedly on July 31, 2020. Major Scott Sellers was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 4, 1949 to Frank Marion Sellers and Clara Linenberger Sellers. He was retired from the United States Army. During his service to the United States, Maj. Sellers earned a Bronze Star for valor as well as two Purple Hearts. Following his retirement, he continued his public service by becoming as officer with the Atlanta Police Department.

Scott Sellers was married to his wife, Paula in 1991. They moved to Morgan County in 2003 from Snellville. Since moving, Scott has been very active in the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and assisted with the ROTC program. Scott loved to spend time on his tractor and working in his garden. He served on the Morgan County Board of Elections and was a great supporter of the Morgan County Recreation Department. Scott believed in the youth of this community and wanted to offer encouragement to young people.

Scott Sellers is survived by his wife, Paula and children, Kellie Sellers, Jordan Sellers & Darcie, Jarrod Sellers, Tabatha Carlton & Thomas and Candice Austin & Taylor. His grandchildren are Donovan, Ryann and Quinn Sellers, Taylor, Tess and Tarryn Carlton and Dylan and Kyndal Austin.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Sellers, Kay Sellers, Margaret Sellers Piercy, Eric Sellers, and is survived by Barbara Jean Sellers and sister-in-law Norma Sellers.

The community is welcome to pay their respects to Scott Sellers on Tuesday, August 4 at A.E. Carter Funeral Home from 10 AM until Noon. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 PM. The funeral service will begin at 2 PM in the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
