Wanda Lucille Whiteside was born February 20, 1933 to William and Dorothy Ballard Whiteside in Chelsea, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood in the Cherokee Central and Chelsea area. She would attend Chelsea schools, graduating with the class of 1950. It was also in the Chelsea area that she met Earl Couch. The two began dating and married on July 15, 1950. Over the next few years Wanda would travel with Earl while he worked the pipeline. As their family began to grow, Wanda and Earl decided to settle permanently back home in Chelsea. The family continued to grow and Wanda was blessed with a total of four children. Her life revolved around her family, and she was proud to take care of them. To Wanda, sewing, cleaning, and cooking were things she enjoyed doing for her family. However, she also enjoyed helping in activities such as 4H, FFA, and girl scouts. In the years to follow Wanda's focus also began to include her grandchildren. She found her time being occupied with babysitting and their sports and activities as well.

In her spare time Wanda had many activities that she enjoyed. There were her Friday night rook card games, and traveling in their RV all over the country. A few of her favorite places were scattered throughout the western United States, especially Yellowstone National Park. However, she always enjoyed her local trips to Branson, and the week-long Ballard family reunion at Spencer Creek on Oologah Lake.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Whiteside; husband, Earl Couch; sisters, Shirley Mizer and Diana Raley; granddaughter, Shannon Carlock, and son-in-law, Tommy Self.

Survivors include her children, Larry Couch and wife Janna, Billy Couch and wife Lisa, Earletta Webb and husband Frank, and Vicki Self; grandchildren, Starla, Stacie, Shawn, Stefanie, Cory, Justin, Anesa, and Chelsea; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Billy Whiteside and wife Ynema, Delores Green, and June St. John, along with many other extended family members.
