Don Newton Moore, 89, of Lewistown, OH passed away Friday morning, July 31, 2020 at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, OH.

Don was born on August 16, 1930 in Lewistown, a son of the late Robert J. and Acta Belle Allen Moore, Sr. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert James “RJ” Moore, Jr, and Charles James Moore.

Don married Diana N. Hughes on March 29, 1963 in Bellefontaine, and she survives along with four children, Dwight (Jennifer) Moore of Hilliard, OH, Carla Evans of Russells Point, OH, Paula Raver of Columbus, OH, and Heather Beer of Kenton, OH, ten grandchildren, Slone Moore, Aidan Moore, Annabelle Evans, Anthony Moore, Eddy Raver, Christopher Raver, Tristan Moore, Vivian Moore, Avery Slade, Jr, and Lillian Beer, and four great grandchildren.

Don was a veteran of the United States Army serving during Korea. He was a heavy equipment operator, working for Paul Drum and Sons Construction and ODOT where he retired in 1996. Don was a member of Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local #18. He enjoyed mowing grass, woodworking, and tinkering on equipment. He loved spending time with family and seeing his grandchildren.

Reverend Debra Ketcham will begin funeral services at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church. Visitation is Tuesday, August 4th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St. Lakeview and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in Lewistown Cemetery with military rites performed by Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial Contributions in his name may be given to Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church.
