Arnold I. Garthe, 52, former manager of the meat department of Fuller's Market, died yesterday at St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix following a short illness.
Friends may call today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the M. L. Gibbons Mortuary, after which the body will be taken to Sutton's Bay, Mich., for services and interment.
Mr. Garthe was born in North Port, Mich., on June 11, 1909, and for the past nine years made his home at 532 E. Franklin.
He came to Mesa from Michigan, and was a member of the Congregational church. He was a Rotarian and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 265 at North Port.
Surviving are his wife, Constance G., Mesa; his mother, Mrs. Lena Garthe, Sutton's Bay; two sons, Billy C. and Gerald A., both of Mesa; three brothers, Carleton, Claire, Mich.; Stanley, Sutton's Bay; and Robert, Glenn Lake, Mich.; and three sisters, Mrs. Horace Blackmer, Albany, Ga.; Mrs. Dorothy Woodworth, Traverse City, Mich.; and Mrs. Thomas Klinefelter, Livonia, Mich.
Funeral services for Arnold (Teet) Garthe, 52, who died Mon aft in St. Joseph's hospital, Phoenix, Ariz, will be held Frid at 2:00pm at the M. Martinson & Son funeral home here.
