Dawn L. Richards, 62, of Hawley, MN, passed away peacefully in her home after a seven-year battle with Frontotemporal Dementia.

Dawn Lynell Trandem was born in Crookston, MN, on June 5, 1957, to Leon and Edith "Edie" (Hedrich) Trandem. She grew up in Erskine, MN, and graduated from Erskine High School. Her parents owned a restaurant in Erskine and the passion for serving others stayed with Dawn. Following high school, she moved to Moorhead and began working at Country Kitchen, now Fryn' Pan. She started as a server and transitioned her way into the kitchen and management and eventually took over the baking. Dawn had quite the following of patrons who could tell by the pies whether they were the work of Dawn or not. It was there she met John Richards and they were married on August 12, 1979 in Erskine.

Dawn's faith was important and was shown through service as well. She'd help with the cooking for Hungry Hearts, which was the Wednesday evening meal, and would often make cookies for Sunday services and Vacation Bible School.

Nothing was more important to Dawn than family. She loved her children and would do anything for them. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Dawn is survived by her husband, one son, three daughters, ten grandchildren, and three brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents.
