Sara Carmichael Griffin, 88 of Talladega passed away Saturday December 27, 2014, she was born in Canton, Georgia January 22, 1926. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday December 30, 2014 2:00pm at the Usrey Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pine Hill Memorial Park, The Reverend Granville Gauldin and Chaplain Greg Tankersley officiating. She married the love of her life on his birthday June 27, 1942. They joined together to create a successful family jewelry business where they created a legacy for their family. Their strong union led to a closely knit family. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Civitan Club. She was a loving and compassionate Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She loved the mountains, oceans and all destinations in between. She was an avid cookbook collector and shared her cooking skills at all family gatherings. She is preceded in death by husband H. Millard Griffin, son-in law Bruce M. Thrasher, sisters Aletha Buice, Hellen McFarland and Jeffie McFarland. Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Gail G Thrasher, sons Travis M Griffin (Becky), Tim Griffin (Jenni), grandchildren Heather G. Stewart (Rod), Leah T. Hutton (Brian), Jessica T. Bunting (Dan), Luke Griffin and Meg Griffin, 7 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Charles McFarland and sister-in-law Betty Runyan. Pallbearers will be Luke Griffin, Griffin Smith, Brian Hutton, Dan Bunting, Rod Stewart and R.D. Morris, Honorary Pallbearers Richard Merrell, Tommy Griffin and Hank Bartlett.
