Jerry Mart Chandler, 78, of Houlka passed from this life Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Born on December 21, 1941 in Vardaman, Jerry was a son to the late Mart Thomas Chandler and Thelma Naron Chandler.

Jerry worked for the AIG insurance company as a valued insurance salesman. By the good nature of his profession, Jerry provided people with a sense of wellbeing through the life, health, and accidental insurance policies he sold. When he wasn’t combing over documents he found joy in the thrill of deer and bird hunting, and the solitude found in fishing. Jerry, a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans, was active in the history of his southern heritage. Jerry believed in the Lord and His promise of eternal life and worshipped when he was able Faith Baptist Church.

He leaves behind a loving family to carry his memory in their hearts for the remainder of their days; wife, Jean Melton Hughes Chandler; three sons: Randy Chandler of Des Moines, Iowa; Mart Chandler of Holmes County; Tony Chandler of Kosciusko, Mississippi; one daughter: Tina (Ray) Scott of Nashville, Tennessee.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Mart Thomas Chandler and Thelma Naron Chandler; one daughter, Robin Chandler.

A graveside service remembering Jerry’s life will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 12:30 PM in the Elzey Cemetery. Bro. James Taylor and Bro. Bob Weldon will officiate the service.
