The city was shocked last Thursday afternoon by the tragic death of M. M. Bardwell, which occurred at 3:30 after an illness of just a few hours from heart disease.
Mr. Bardwell was born at Starkville, Miss., about 76 years ago, and had been a resident of our city for forty years. He was twice married, first to Mrs. James Wadlington. To this union two children were born, Milton Bardwell, and Miss Delia Bardwell, both of whom, with their mother, preceded Mr. Bardwell to the Great Beyond.
He was again married on Nov. 4th, 1920, to Miss Willie Curry, of Louisville, Miss., who survives him. He is also survived by one grandson, Robert Sanderson, and one brother, J. H. Bardwell of Sweetwater, Texas.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian, church on Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. C. Watson, of Louisville, Miss., and Rev. V. E. Boston, of Winona. Interment took place in Oakwood cemetery.
Life is a narrow vale between the cold and barren peaks of two eternities. We strive in. vain to look beyond the heights; from the voiceless lips of the unreplying there comes no word, but in the life of M. M. Bardwell hope sees a star and listening love can hear the rustle of a wing, for we know that he is at rest with the Saviour whom he loved to serve.
To the bereaved ones the Times extends its heartfelt sympathy.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral services were; Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Wilson, of New Orleans, La.; Mrs. B. J. Ellis, and son, B. J. Jr., Mobile, Ala. ; C. G. Curry, Mobile, Ala. Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Curry and little daughter, of McLean, Miss; Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Cully, Drew, Miss. ; Robert Sanderson, of Greenville, Miss.; D. and Mrs. Guy Bardwell, Charleston, Miss.; Mrs. Jim Harris and daughter, Mrs. Powers, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Lollar, Messrs. Stearns, Chandler, and W D, McLeod, of Greenwood.
