Jim Boe

July 3, 1958 - February 17, 2020

Jim Boe, 61, of Twin Valley, MN., died Monday, February 17, 2020, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home, in Fertile, MN., after a short battle with cancer.

Jim Alvin Boe, the son of Harold and Beverly (Mortenson) Boe, was born on July 3, 1958, in Grand Forks, ND. He grew up and attended school in Gary, MN. Following graduation from Gary High School in 1977, Jim entered the work force at Great Plains. In 1978, he began his career with Burlington Northern Railroad. Jim was married and blessed with two children: Brandon and Kandi. He divorced and later met Nicole Syverson. In 2000, Jim and Nikee were united in marriage, and they made their home in Twin Valley. Their family grew with the birth of two additional children: Haley and Brady. Following 28 years of employment, Jim retired in 2006, after which, they operated Snow Dog Snow Removal together in Twin Valley. Jim loved to be outside during any season. Through the fall and winter months, Jim could usually be found deer hunting and ice fishing. In the summer, he spent many hours on his four-wheeler and kayaking. He also liked wood working and made many beautiful projects over the years. Jim was a cowboy at heart who loved horses and cattle. He nearly always had on his cowboy hat and was once told he even resembled Garth Brooks. Jim cherished his family and especially loved his children and two precious grandchildren. He was a caring, loving, and generous person, and will live on in the hearts of many.

Jim is survived by his wife, Nikee of Twin Valley; four children: Brandon Boe of Coon Rapids, MN., Kandi (Eddie) Hernandez of Paramount, CA., Haley Boe of Mahnomen, MN., and Brady Boe of Twin Valley; two grandchildren: Sophia and Isaiah Hernandez; his siblings: Terry Baumgartner of Fertile, Penny (Keith Keller) Halstad of Crookston, MN., and Joe (Cherie) Boe of Gary; his father-in-law, Ben Syverson of Twin Valley; sister-in-law, DeAnn Syverson of West Fargo, ND.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Bev; one brother, George; and his mother-in-law, Liz Syverson.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 24, 2020, at Gary Lutheran Church, in Gary, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior, at the church.
