Last Rites Held For Life Long Winona Citizen

Mrs. Melzana Ward Hart, the wife of the late Henry Hart, prominent Winona banker, passed away in the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. W. Holmes on Monday afternoon, March 17.

Mrs. Hart was the daughter of the late Dr. H. F. Ward and Mary Hardeman Ward. She was born March 24, 1869 in Winona where she spent her entire life.

The service was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Presbyterian Church of which she was a member. It was conducted by the Rev. R. S. Lowe and assisted by the Rev. Jones Hamilton, rector of the Episcopal Church in Greenwood, Miss.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane Hart Holmes and Edward W. Holmes, Jr., of Winona.

Out-of-town friends attending the services were: Franklin Ward, Memphis; W. C. Trotter, University, Miss.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ryland, Pine Bluff, Ark.; Billy Hitt Morrow and James Hart Morrow, Webb; Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Fondren, Cleveland; Mrs. L. E. Evans and L. E. Evans, Jr., Drew; Mrs. Claude Lusk, Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Holfes, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Vaiden, Vaiden; Mr. and Mrs. Seward Mills and T. C. Buford, Glendora; Miss Adelaide McCarty, Water Valley; D. B. Turner and Mrs. Turner Merrick, Greenwood.
