Mrs. Rebecca Kinder dies Sunday at home

Graveside services for Mrs. Rebecca Turner Kinder, who died Sunday at her home in Greenwood, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona.

Mrs. Kinder was the widow of Ralph P. Kinder of Montclair, N.J. and New York City. Since her husband's death, she had lived at the family residence on Grand Boulevard.

Mrs. Kinder was the daughter of Irene Graves Turner and David B. Turner, who were longtime Greenwood residents and whose families were founders of Winona. Mrs. Kinder was educated at the Spence School in New York City and at Hollins College in Hollins, Va.

She was a life master of the American Contract Bridge Association and had played in many major national tournaments. She was a member of the Princeton Club of New York, the Greenwood Country Club and First United Methodist Church of Greenwood. She had farming interests in Sunflower County.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ella Lay Turner Merrick of Greenwood.

The Rev. Gene Russell will officiate at the services. Wilson and Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be R.C. Wingate, Warner Wells Jr., Bill Litton, W.G. Mize Jr., William Falls, Ken Livingston, Lloyd Moore and R.C. McBee Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be W.M. Whittington Jr., Dr. John F. Lucas Jr., Dr. Clyde Smith, Buddy Goodman, Arch Peteet and H.Y. Fraiser Jr.

It has been asked that, rather than sending flowers, memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or to Greenwood-Leflore Public Library.
