Jim worked for 31 years as a Locomotive Engineer at CSX Transportation. Lovingly referred to as “Jack” by many on the railroad and the “Official Florida Tour Guide” by his family and friends; you could always find Jim with a smile on his face, a golf club or paint brush in his hand, offering a warm embrace, and sharing a funny story to make you smile. He loved golfing, working in the garden and flower beds, spending time with his family and friends, playing a variety of musical instruments with family and friends and cuddling his furry best friend, Lulu. Jim and Carolyn truly loved Florida and began to “snowbird” in 2011. After moving to The Villages, he developed a love for all things golf. Jim loved to cook his signature “mean pot of spaghetti” for everyone that was hungry upon arriving for a visit. Jim always enjoyed the sunshine and especially loved showing his family and friends around when they would visit. Jim lived in paradise on earth and his eternal home is even better.
Jim is a cherished husband to his wife Carolyn, beloved father to his children, James Horner of Washington, PA, Julie (Horner) and Mickey Barry of Morgantown, WV, Terri and Robert Yarbrough of Cumberland, MD, and Tracey Laslo of Santa Barbara CA, and devoted grandfather to Owen and Ean Barry, and Austin and Logan Yarbrough. He was a treasured brother to Terry and Krista Horner, Bill Horner, and Mike and Deborah (Horner) Postma.
