Mrs. Edith Swaim Hiatt Hicks, 99 of Winston Salem passed away March 30, 2020 at Brookridge Retirement Community. Mrs. Hicks was born December 18, 1920 in Forsyth County to the late Ben & Bertha Kimel Swaim. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband E.B. “Brook”Hiatt and her second husband A.W. Hicks. Also, two sons; Sherrill Hiatt & Kevin Hiatt, brothers Lawrence Swaim , B.M. Swaim, sisters: Doris Raper and Fern Daniels. She was a longtime member of Ardmore Baptist Church. She was one of the first residents of Brookridge Retirement Community. Mrs. Hicks loved gardening in her flowers, doing ceramics and spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter Becky Eckrote (David), sister; Nancy Gail Branch, Grandsons; Shane Warf (Felicity), David Eckrote Jr. (Michelle), Tyler Gillis (Britt), Granddaughters; Shannon Warf Wilson, Adrienne Gillis, Sherri Millett (Ken), seven Great-Grandchildren, four Great Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ardmore Baptist Church. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the family will hold a Private Service.
