Charles Davis of Rt. 1, Makanda, was pronounced dead on arrival at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Carbondale at 8:30 a.m. today. He was 68.
Mr. Davis was born Dec. 31, 1899, to William and Rachel Bush Davis in Union County. He was married in 1922 to Iva A. Parrish in Carterville. Mr. Davis was a farmer and member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Anita Darnell, Makanda; a grandson; brother, Clarence Davis, De Soto; sisters, Mrs. Della Crain of Fisk, MO, Mrs. Addie Frost, Route 3, Carbondale, Mrs. Gladys Parks of Cypress, Mrs. Vivian Simmons of Decatur and Mrs. Imogene Johnson of McArthur, Calif.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Huffman Funeral Home, Carbondale. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Herrin.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
