Thomas E. Preston, 81, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Born Sept. 29, 1930 in Winne, Ark. To Harvey and Flossie (Neisler) Preston.
He married Carol L. Neumann Apr. 27, 1956 in Wood River. She survives.
A machine part inspector for McDonnell-Douglas and Boeing for 40 years, he retired in 1997. He was a former President and member holding several offices for IAM Local #837 in St. Louis.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Jim Vambaketes of Godfrey; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Danelle Preston of High Ridge, Mo.; 6 grandchildren, Amber Walls, Stephanie Preston, Chad Preston, Alex Scrivens, John Preston and James Vambaketes; and 3 sisters, Betty Sue Pearson of Kirkwood, Mo., Carolyn “Susie” Hamel and Genell Milan, both of Bethalto.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and 5 sisters.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military honors by the Ritual Team of Alton VFW Post #1308.
