FLORENCE C. GAGE, 93, FORMERLY OF PRINCETON
CANBY, Ore. Florence C. Gage, 93, died of causes related to age Friday at her Canby, Ore. home. She had been in ill health for only a short time.
She had lived at Princeton, Idaho, Lewiston and Genesee for many years.
Mrs. Gage was born June 14, 1897, to George and Rebecca Shawver at Decatur, Neb. After attending high school in Nebraska she continued her education at Wayne Normal School in Nebraska and became an elementary school teacher.
She taught for three years before marrying Ora Gage Sept. 5, 1917, at Lyons, Neb.
Mrs. Gage continued to teach for a year after her marriage. The couple moved to Mapleton, Iowa, in 1917 where they lived and farmed for 16 years. In 1933, they moved to South Dakota for two years before moving to Idaho. While living in Idaho, Mr. Gage worked for the Potlatch Corp. first at Potlatch, Idaho and later at Lewiston. They moved to Yachats, Ore. on the coast where they lived for eight years before moving to Canby in 1976. Before Mr. Gage died Dec. 30, 1990, they celebrated their 73rd Wedding anniversary.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Canby.
Survivors include five sons, Orland, Don and Duane Gage, all of Lewiston, Bernard Gage of Princeton and Byron of Seattle; three daughters, Marian Johnson and Elaine LaRue, both of Canby, and Pauline Becker of Waldport, Ore.; 33 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Norma and a son Gary died previously.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Canby with the Rev. Robert Cieslinski officiating. A graveside service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday at the Moscow Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Wassmuth officiating.
The family suggests memorials be sent to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 730, Canby, Ore. 97013.
