Final rites for Mrs. Nora G. Bennett, 72, of Route 1, Shady Spring, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. L.A. Garten officiating. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery at Abraham.
She died at 10 p.m. Tuesday in a local nursing home following a long illness.
Born at New, June 13, 1899 she was the daughter of the late Jacob L. and Elizabeth Jones Adkins.
A lifelong resident of Raleigh County, she was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church where she at one time served as church clerk.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Ruby) Richmond, Daniels, Mrs. Norville (Eva) Richmond, Beckley, Mrs. Donald (Rheda) Meador, Grafton, Ohio, Mrs. George (Lucille) Plymale, Brunswick, Ohio, and Mrs. Weldon (Phyllis) Bennett, Mintor, Ohio; five sons, Okey R., Baltimore, Md., Ray, Abraham, Glennis, Norfolk, Va., Jessie, Jr., Painesville, Ohio, and Verlin Bennett, Willoughby, Ohio; three half sisters, Mrs. Sadie Kincaid, Shady Spring, Mrs. Lena Beverly, Mt. Hope, and Mrs. Violet Ezell, Gassville, Ark.; 37 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.n. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Kelly, Norville Todd, Lester Plumley, Danny and Jerry Bennett, and Russell Adkins.
