Jack (Jacob) Schindler and his twin brother, John, were born December 30, 1904 on a farm near Marion Junction, South Dakota to Jacob and Susanna (Schmidt) Schindler. In 1905 the family moved to a homestead near Temvik, North Dakota, and later settled near McClusky, ND in 1912. Jack married Esther Neff, daughter of August and Katherine (Heift) Neff at the Mennonite Brethren Church in McClusky on November 6, 1927. They farmed 10 years west of McClusky where 3 sons were born, later moving to a farm in Johns Lake Township in 1937 where their daughter was born.

Jack and Esther were very active in the McClusky EUB Church (now United Methodist) where Jack taught Sunday School for many years. In 1959 they moved into McClusky where Jack later served as municipal judge and county treasurer. Esther died January 21, 1975. Jack died May 20, 1998 at the Bismarck Hospital at the age of 93.
