It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Katherine (Kathy) M. Hanson on January 31, 2020 peacefully at NY Presbyterian Hospital. She was sixty-six years young and will be remembered by all as a sensitive, warm, gregarious, fun loving person who could lift up anyone’s spirit with a simple smile. Kathy was the real deal whether in her professional, personal or private life. What you saw is what you got. In any dictionary, next to the words genuine and caring would be a picture of a smiling Kathy. If any of her myriad of friends had a problem, she would go the extra mile to help.

But one could best see the twinkle in Kathy’s eyes when she was with her soul mate, Jim. She once confided in me that “Jim completes me” and everyone close to her knew that. Kathy’s love of family was no secret to anyone. Kathy adored her mother, Margaret, twin brother Ken and brother, Stephen, and their wives. She cherished her time with her many nieces and nephews and their children. Jim’s family became her family and she shared her love and life with them.

Kathy has left all of us too early and I am reminded of Sir Elton John’s words “Your candle's burned out long before Your legend ever will”. May she be reunited with her Dad, Lars, at the Lord’s table and may she rest in eternal peace.
