Former State, County Officeholder Is Dead Arthur J. Wall, 76, of 301 Eighth St., Ilonesdale, former state legislator and Wayne County Commissioner, and father of Arthur J. Wall Jr., Honesdale, well-known professional golfer, died Thursday In Community Hospital, Boca Raton, Fla., after an illness. He was the husband of the former Louise Relfler. His son was 1959 Master Professional golf champion and 1959 Golfer Of the Year. Mr. Wall served 11 terms In the state House before he retired in 1966. He was elected in 1930 and served from 1931 to 1938, returning in 1953. He was re-elected every two years after that. In the interim he was a Wayne County Commissioner from 1940 to 1951. Born in Hawley, son of the late Theodore and Mary Bryant Wall, he was educated in Hawley public schools and at Wyoming Seminary, Kingston. He was a veteran of the Army Aviation Corps in World War I. Mr. Wall entered the feed business in Honesdale in 1922 and retired from that in 1946 when a fire destroyed the milling company building. Mr. Wall was a member of First Presbyterian Church, l'onesdale, and served as an elder. He was a member of the Masons, Honesdale Craftsmens Club, Indian Orchard Grange, Honesdale Golf Club, David McKelvy Peterson Post, American Legion, ARTHUR J. WALL and the Last Mans Club of World War I. Other survivors are five grandchildren; a greatgrandchild and several nieces and nephews. A son, William R. Wall, was killed in action in 1944 on submarine duty during World War II. Private funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the home. The Rev. Norman M. Dunsmort, First Presbyterian Church, Honesdale, will officiate. Interment, Glen Dyberry Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donors favorite charity.
