Born to Clifford and Minnie (Christy) Pierce in Shidler, OK. He began his working career with the U.S. Postal Service as a postman, then as a pattern maker for Gilmore Pattern Works, and later worked for several firms in Training Aids Program before opening his own business, Sports Specialities, a custom van conversion business which he owned and operated for over 15 years.
