Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Bankhead officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jean Neely was born Jan. 26, 1933, to Philip and Marie Thomas in Amarillo. She was a lifelong resident of Amarillo until her move to Houston 2½ years ago to be near family.
She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1951 and attended Amarillo College and Texas Tech University.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, participating in Christian education, women's association and Sunday school, and served on many committees of the church through the years.
She married Dan R. Neely on Aug. 17, 1957. He preceded her in death in 2004 after 47 years of marriage.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Marie Thomas; and a son-in-law, Rick D. Husband.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Husband Thompson and husband Bill and grandchildren Laura Marie Husband and Matthew Douglas Husband, all of Houston; a brother, Philip E. Thomas and wife Shirley of Austin; a brother-in-law, R. Ben Neely and wife Elizabeth of Amarillo; four nephews, Bob Neely and wife April and Stephen Neely and wife Rebecca, all of Amarillo, Matt Thomas and wife Nancy of Dallas and Tim Thomas and his wife Geisla of Harlingen; two nieces, Susan Boudin and husband Olivier of Oklahoma City and Leigh Reynolds and husband Blake of Dacula, Ga.; along with many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to First Presbyterian Church, 1100 S. Harrison St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
