Mr. John Henry Hooe, a lifelong resident of Charles Town died at the home of his son Mr. Frank Hooe, on Northwest Street Sunday night, December 26,death coming after an illness of two weeks from an attack of paralysis. Mr Hooe was 72 yrs old. As a boy of 10 or 12 yrs old he witnessed some of the stirring dramas of the Civil War period in and around Charles Town. Mr Hooe was a carpenter by occupation and as such was employed at one time or another by the property owners of the town. One daughter Miss Kate Hooe of Winchester, and six sons Frank, Robert and Shirley in Charles Town, Byington in Martinsburg, Oscar and Garland of Purnellville, VA, one sister Miss Annie Hooe and one brother Mr. Alex Hooe both of Charles Town are survivers.
