Idaho Statesman, Feb. 19, 1896:
"Remains of Hyrum Butler who died in Portland Sunday arrived here last evening. The deceased leaves a family in So. Boise. He went to Portland [Oregon] about a year ago for his health. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in So. Boise from the residence of Edward Butler. The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War. G.A.R. men are requested to attend the funeral."
