I believe this to be the final resting place of Pvt. W.P. Chitty, Company H, 17th SCVI. He is listed on the Consolidated Record as being from Barnwell District (County). His was around 16 when he enlisted which matches the date of birth on the memorial. He was severely wounded at Boonsboro Maryland in 1862 being shot through the left shoulder.
