Jacob William Perry, 78, of Anderson, passed away Sept. 2, 2007, at St. John's Medical Center, following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Anderson and was a lifelong Anderson resident.

Jacob was the former owner of Perry's Garage and then drove for Stoops Trucking for 20 years before retiring in 1989, after driving a school bus for the Anderson Community Schools for 17 years.

He was a 50-year horseman and a member of the Anderson Equestrian Club, National Rifle Association and V.F.W. Post 266. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served his country during World War II.

Jacob was a loving man that many children loved. He will be missed by all those who knew him.

Survivors include his seven children, Bill Perry, Bob Perry, Kay (husband, Roy) Irle, Patty Perry, Nancy Perry (companion, Andy Brough), Joyce Perry (companion, John Hollen) and Renee´ (husband, Rick) Brewer, all of Anderson; grandchildren, Rodney, Mike (wife, Jenny), Brian and B.J. Perry, Lisa, Robert and Jill Perry, Tina and Tammy Dray, Roy Irle, Linsey, Gary, Debbie and Jason Perry, Matthew Jones, Lydia and Andrea Brough, Joell Hollen, Shalee, Ricky, Harley, Cheyann, Dayton and Travis Brewer; great-grandchildren, Holly Perry, Skyler Gosser, Carlie and Harley Perry, Angelina Ferguson, Kilynne Brook, Desman and Bronson Berryman, Kenzie, Kade and Kadee Landaker, Carley and Harley Perry, Matt Cure, and Matthew Jones; a great-great-grandson, Landon Maupin; his brother, Lee Perry; a sister, Thelma Hatter; dearly loved nieces, nephews, and cousins and dear friends, June Perry, Linda Lewark, Linda Gustin and Judy Phipps; and step-children, Sandy Oster, Mike Decker, Jerry Decker, Kim Hopper, Paul Decker, Tammy Phillips and James Harrington.

Jacob was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Juanita Perry; two sons, John Jacob Perry and Gary E. Perry; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Perry; and a daughter-in-law, Shirlee Perry.

A special thank you to Dr. John Woodall and staff for all the care given to Jake.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by the Bishop R.B. Bingham. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
