He was the son of Stephen and Ann Hairgrove and the husband of Elizabeth Adams Hairgrove.

**Year of birth might be 1758 or 1760, and might have been born in Delaware.**

The following came from a series of letters, (beginning in January 25, 1922), from George H. Hargrove of Fullerton, California to Mrs. Frances 'Fanny' Pearson Nicholson, (wife of John Nicholson).

"George Hargrove, my great grandfather, Asa Hargrove, my grandfather, and his wife Jerusha are buried on the W. W. O'Bryan place only a few yards from the old Jacob Townsend residence about two miles from Reedy Creek Church. Asa Hargrove's grave has marble tombstone and buried beside his father, George Hargrove."

Later on in the same letter, he mentioned that George's grave was unmarked.

**According to family lore, George fought in the Revolutionary War under General Francis Marion. No proof of this has been found or provided thus far.**

In addition to the children listed below were:

* John Hairgrove, born January 2, 1787.

* Newell Hairgrove, born February 26, 1790. Married Levisa "Louicy" Ammons.

* Louicy (Vicy) Hairgrove, born June 11, 1795. Married John Townsend.
