[Silas Wheeler (Captain/PS) was born circa 1753 and died at the age of 75 on 17 Jun 1828 in Huntington. He was the son of Deacon Moses Wheeler. He married Ruth Judson. She was born circa 1757 and died at the age of 88 on 15 Apr 1845. They had nine children.
He was a Sergeant in Oct 1777 and served under Captain Beach Tomlinson in Col. Whiting's Regiment commanded by Lt-Col Jonathan Dimon. He marched to Fishkill and Peekskill Oct 5 to Oct 15.
On 28 Feb 1778 Silas Wheeler took the Oath of Fidelity to the State and on 19 Dec 1781 he was one of 10 men chosen Hayward.
