Waist Gunner aboard B-17G Flying Fortress #43-38268.

Killed in service when the bomber crashed on takeoff from Mendlesham, England, for a mission to Cologne, Germany. Two crewmembers were killed in the crash and two would die of injuries the following day. Seven survived and were returned to duty.
